The extraordinary plenary session held today at the Leganés City Council approved the payment of over €142,000 in default interest corresponding to an invoice from 2021, during the time the Socialist Party was in government. The proposal passed with votes in favor from PP and ULEG, while PSOE, Podemos, and Más Madrid voted against.
The plenary session, which addressed a total of 17 points, also included a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the Urda train tragedy. During the session, Ignacio Benavente García took office as the new councilor for the PSOE.
Out of the 17 points debated, 12 were approved, 4 were rejected, and one resulted in abstention due to a tie in votes (2 in favor, 2 against, and 23 abstentions according to the ROM).
Among the approved motions are support for the educational strike and defense of public schools (PSOE, Más Madrid, Podemos), the immediate implementation of the Citizen Attention Service in Leganés Norte (PSOE), the defense of EMSULE (PSOE, Más Madrid, Podemos, VOX), the protection of the elderly against evictions (Más Madrid), and support for the general strike on November 11 for decent wages and housing (PSOE, Más Madrid, Podemos).
Other rejected motions included VOX's initiative on Spanish sovereignty and the invasion of Ceuta, the rejection of electoral roll manipulation attempts (VOX), and Podemos's proposal for the PP and ULEG government to comply with the right to housing.
The session also validated the payment of a pending invoice for services at the La Fortuna Sports City in December 2025 and the ratification of acts that led to the omission of the intervention function (OFI) in two files. The initial approval of the budget modification for the payment of default interest derived from sentence 387/2025 of the Administrative Litigation Court No. 10 of Madrid was approved with votes in favor from PP and ULEG, against from PSOE and Podemos, and abstentions from Más Madrid and VOX.
