The Community of Madrid has authorized the drafting of the project for the southern extension of Metro Line 11, which will connect La Fortuna with Poza del Agua, with an investment of 689,314.53 euros.

The regional Governing Council has given the green light to the modification of the contract for the drafting of this project, awarded to the UTE Proes Consultores, S.A. – BAC Engineering Consultancy Group, S.L.U. This action will connect the La Fortuna neighborhood with the rest of the municipality of Leganés, offering residents a direct connection to the Madrid Metro.
The mayor of Leganés, Miguel Ángel Recuenco, highlighted the importance of this infrastructure which "will transform mobility in Leganés" and represents "a decisive step to stitch our city together", by connecting MetroSur with Line 11. Recuenco emphasized the "joint work" between the City Council and the Community of Madrid to improve the city, stating that "La Fortuna could no longer remain an island within our own municipality".
The approval of the project drafting is a necessary preliminary step to prepare the documentation required for the environmental processing of the extension. The extension of L11 will be carried out by utilizing the reserved alignment of L12 in Poza del Agua, and is part of the strategy to make L11 a structuring axis of the regional public transport network.
