The Governing Council has greenlit the awarding of contracts for the construction of a new institute in Getafe and the completion of another in Arganda del Rey. These projects, with a 15-month execution period, aim to significantly expand public educational offerings in the region.
In Getafe, the future IES in the Los Molinos neighborhood will feature 28 classrooms for Secondary and Baccalaureate groups, five breakout spaces, five support rooms, 10 seminar rooms, specialized classrooms, administrative areas, and a gymnasium. The budget allocated for this construction exceeds 13 million euros. The ground floor will house the main lobby and a library with independent access, conceived as a multipurpose area, along with an image and design room.
Meanwhile, in Arganda del Rey, works will be completed at the public institute Eduardo Capa, whose first phase became operational at the start of the 2025/26 academic year. This new phase will include 25 group classrooms and nine specialized rooms for IT, technology, laboratories, drawing, music, and image and design. Spaces for small group classes, administrative offices, a gymnasium, and sports courts will also be provided. The regional government will invest over 10 million euros in these works in Arganda del Rey.
These projects are part of the current legislature's Educational Infrastructure Plan, which involves a total investment of over 330 million euros. This plan aims to complete nearly a hundred works that, collectively, will add almost 24,000 new places to the Community of Madrid's public education offerings.
