The Council of Ministers has approved a new edition of the Summer Youth 2026 program, a state initiative aimed at promoting youth mobility with a budget of 130 million euros this year. The measure targets individuals between 18 and 30 years old, both Spanish nationals and foreign residents legally residing in Spain, born between January 1, 1996, and December 31, 2008.
Beneficiaries will enjoy substantial reductions on various modes of transport. Discounts reach 90% on state bus services and conventional medium-distance trains. Avant tickets will receive a 50% reduction, as will long-distance and high-speed services, the latter capped at 30 euros per ticket. Additionally, a 50% discount will be applied to the ten-day Interrail Global Flexible pass within two months, marketed through Renfe, thus facilitating international getaways.
To apply for discounted tickets, interested young people must pre-register on the platform provided by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility. A DNI or NIE will be required to verify eligibility. Once the application is validated, each user will receive a personal, non-transferable code via email, which must be entered when purchasing tickets from participating companies to automatically apply the discount. Registration must be completed at least 24 hours before the first purchase.
The initiative, now in its fourth consecutive year, is solidifying its position as one of the most popular youth policies. The 2025 edition saw approximately 6.8 million journeys. For many young people in Alcorcón, the Summer Youth program once again presents an opportunity to travel more and spend less during their summer holidays.
