To mark the upcoming Alcorcón 2026 Fiestas, the space aiming to become an international entertainment benchmark, Soho City, will open its doors for citizens to discover its potential. This project is driven by the Wonderland group, known for venues like the Teatro Caixabank Príncipe Pío.
The Wonderland group, with partners including Antonio Banderas, Luis Álvarez, Santiago Segura, and José Mota, acquired the eight abandoned buildings of the Alcorcón Center for the Creation of Arts (CREAA) last June to transform them into Soho City.
Residents of Alcorcón will have the opportunity to explore the project, which aims to be "the cultural and entertainment heart not only of Alcorcón but of all of Spain and even Europe". September 4th to 6th have been designated for guided tours showcasing the circular auditorium, the core of this new venue.
Promoters have indicated that completing the project will require an investment of 30 million euros. The CREAA works were nearly finished when construction was halted in 2012, resulting in a 34 million euro compensation to the construction company, as recalled by the mayor, Candelaria Testa (PSOE).
The socialist mayor emphasized that Soho City represents a "key opportunity for Alcorcón", having found "the most suitable partners" who will place the city "on the map for major events alongside Madrid or Barcelona".
The new Soho City will feature eight buildings, including a configurable hall intended to become a theater, and an auditorium with over 1,600 seats, which will also function as a theater and is set to be "the largest in Madrid". Additionally, it will house a circus, an exhibition hall, an audiovisual "hub", a café, a restaurant, and spaces for cultural management.
Wonderland plans to hold a presentation event in the circus in December, similar to their strategy at Príncipe Pío, where they set up a circus during the construction period.
