The Ayuntamiento de San Martín de la Vega has confirmed its participation in “European Mobility Week 2026”, an initiative designed to raise awareness about the negative consequences of irrational car use in municipalities and highlight the benefits of more sustainable transport modes such as public transport, cycling, and walking.
Until next September 20th, various activities focused on sustainable mobility will take place. On Friday, September 18th, the “Al Cole en Bici” (To School by Bike) event will encourage infant and primary school students to cycle, skate, or scooter to their schools. Participants in this initiative will be entered into a draw for three double tickets to Parque Warner, as an incentive to reduce the use of private vehicles.
As a notable new feature, on the same Friday, September 18th, at 7:00 PM, a bike trial exhibition will be held in the car park of the indoor swimming pool (Avenida Comunidad de Madrid), presented by the Spanish and World Champion in this discipline, Pablo Aldame. The event will include entertainment, contests, and a bicycle raffle.
The program will conclude on Sunday, September 20th at 12:00 PM with the eleventh edition of the Fiesta de la Bicicleta (Bicycle Festival). The route will traverse the main streets of the urban center and finish at the children's traffic circuit (Calle Rioja), where participants can practice maneuvers with the support of the Local Police and Civil Protection. Additionally, a healthy breakfast will be offered to participants.
