The men's first team of Club Baloncesto Getafe is preparing for its second season in the Segunda FEB, the third tier of Spanish basketball. After considering the economic and sporting viability, the entity has decided to embrace the challenge of assembling a competitive squad, aiming to surpass the ninth-place finish from the previous campaign.
The continuity of José Antonio Nve Maleva, a forward from Equatorial Guinea, was guaranteed as he was the only player with an active contract. Maleva averaged 5.7 points and 5.8 rebounds in the 28 games played last season.
The first confirmed operation is the renewal of coach Ramiro Pozuelo, who will embark on his third season leading the Getafe team. Pozuelo achieved promotion to Segunda FEB in his first year and guided the team to a commendable ninth position last season, narrowly missing out on playoff qualification. His performance has been highly valued by the club.
Shortly after, the first signing was announced: Pablo Rodrigo, a 24-year-old point guard and shooting guard. Rodrigo joins with the aim of regaining his best form after a serious injury sidelined him last season. Developed in the youth ranks of Real Madrid, he played for several seasons with Baloncesto Fuenlabrada's EBA team and has experience in LEB leagues (with Melilla and Cáceres) and Primera FEB (with Alega Cantabria).
Although most of the previous season's roster finished their contracts, the club is confident in retaining a significant portion of the group. However, the promotion of Tres Cantos and Estudiantes has made the Madrid player market more challenging. The objective is to complete the team as soon as possible, with further announcements expected in the coming days.
