A political group in Alcorcón has requested that the Community of Madrid temporarily reduce public transport fares to compensate for the disruptions caused by the A-5 highway works.

The proposal suggests that transport passes should be charged at the zone A rate throughout July and August. This measure aims to mitigate the impact of the rehabilitation works being carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility on the section connecting Alcorcón, Móstoles, and Navalcarnero.
The project, with an investment of 15.4 million euros, focuses on the highway surface between kilometers 10 and 36.7. The operations involve lane narrowing, intermittent closures, and the shutdown of some entry ramps, which complicates the daily commute for residents in the southern part of the region.
The proposing political group argues that the measure would benefit users in the affected municipalities, facilitating access to public transport in light of the traffic difficulties expected during the summer season.
