Madrid fans will have numerous options to follow the matches of ‘La Roja’ in the World Cup held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Several city councils and shopping centers in the region have installed giant screens, and some bars will be setting up televisions on their terraces for the occasion.
In the capital, the Plaza de Colón will host a free giant screen, as announced by municipal spokesperson Inma Sanz. This initiative, in collaboration with the Royal Spanish Football Federation, will be complemented by a second screen at Puente del Rey if Spain advances to the quarterfinals. The Colón screen will be operational for all matches held before 10 PM. Spain's first two group stage matches are scheduled for Monday and the following Sunday, both at 6 PM.
Residents of Las Rozas can also cheer for the national team from a ‘fan zone’ in the Plaza de España, opening this Monday. Half an hour before the first match against Cabo Verde, activities such as face painting, music, and entertainment will be offered. For the final group stage match against the Uruguayan team on June 27th at 2 AM, the Las Rozas City Council and the Royal Spanish Football Federation will provide citizens with access to the federation's facilities in the municipality, featuring an auditorium with a capacity for 300 people.
Furthermore, several shopping centers in the region have set up areas with screens for the free broadcast of Spain's initial matches. The Parquesur shopping center in Leganés will feature two zones with giant screens, one by the lake and another on the esplanade. The Leganés City Council has also authorized hospitality terraces to place televisions on the street during ‘La Roja’s’ games.
In Getafe, fans can gather in the central square of the Nassica shopping center starting at 6 PM on June 15th and 21st. Similarly, the Oasiz center in Torrejón de Ardoz will have a screen by its lake. Meanwhile, the Zoco Pozuelo shopping center in Somosaguas (Pozuelo de Alarcón) will provide a giant screen inside.
