Improvement works by Metro de Madrid on Line 10 will cause a new closure affecting thousands of Alcorcón residents. The Community of Madrid has decided to extend the service interruption, previously limited to the section between Nuevos Ministerios and Cuzco for the Santiago Bernabéu station renovation. Starting July 4th, the closure will reach Plaza de Castilla and is expected to last until the end of August.
This extended closure will particularly impact travelers from Alcorcón using Line 10 from Puerta del Sur. Those heading to the northern part of Madrid will need to use alternative transportation to complete their journeys.
To minimize inconvenience, the Community has arranged a special, free EMT bus service. These buses will operate between Nuevos Ministerios and Plaza de Castilla, covering the affected stations during the metro suspension. Once work at Cuzco is finished, likely by late August, the closure will revert to the Nuevos Ministerios to Cuzco section, as the Santiago Bernabéu station renovation continues until year-end.
The works at Cuzco, with an investment of 1.7 million euros, include station waterproofing and asbestos removal from the vault and technical rooms, aiming to modernize facilities and enhance infrastructure safety.
Line 10 is a crucial link for Alcorcón residents to the capital, especially from the Puerta del Sur interchange. Travelers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time for mandatory transfers during the construction period.
