The intervention focuses on kilometer 6.4 of the M-406, where two overpasses cross the Madrid-Cáceres railway line. These works, expected to last until mid-August, are part of the regional road infrastructure conservation program for the 2022-2025 period.
The main objective of these works is to enhance the safety and extend the lifespan of the structures. This involves improving the waterproofing of their decks and updating the protection systems of the overpasses.
“"Traffic disruptions due to roadworks continue. Sporadic closures, one lane per direction guaranteed. Use alternative routes and plan your journeys."
The work has been organized into three phases. The first, already underway since late April, involved closing the fast lanes in both directions. Subsequently, a temporary diversion will be set up for traffic heading towards Alcorcón, allowing work on the overpass in the Getafe direction. Finally, traffic will be shifted to the repaired structure to carry out work on the opposite side.
Throughout the process, at least one lane will remain open in each direction. However, authorities advise drivers to exercise extreme caution, follow temporary signage, and, whenever possible, use alternative routes to avoid potential traffic jams and ensure smooth traffic flow in the Leganés area.
