This initiative aims to encourage citizen involvement in designing the visual identity of the patron saint festivities. The competition is open to registered residents of Leganés aged over 16, who can submit their proposals from April 1st to May 30th. The winning entry will receive a prize of 1,000 euros.
The full contest rules are available on the municipal website. Entries must be original and unpublished, reflecting the festive character and popular tradition in honor of the city's patron saint. Submissions should be delivered to the Department of Festivities, located at the Town Hall (Plaza Mayor, 1), Monday to Friday, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Participants must submit their proposals in two sealed envelopes. The first will contain the poster mounted on a rigid support, an editable digital copy, and a brief description of the work. The second envelope will include the author's personal details. The poster must be in a vertical format of 50 x 70 centimeters and can use any technique that allows for proper reproduction. It must include the texts ‘Fiestas de San Nicasio 2026’ and ‘Leganés’, and be submitted without a visible signature. In addition to the physical artwork, a digital version in PDF and JPEG format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi, along with the original editable file, is required.
“"This initiative seeks to move towards more participatory and open festivals, while also aiming to strengthen the sense of belonging to the city."
The jury's decision will be announced on June 15th. All participating proposals will be exhibited to the public in the Town Hall Assembly Hall between June 15th and 30th. The winning poster will become the official image of the festivals, used across all municipal platforms. The Councillor for Festivities, Almudena A. Jiménez, emphasized the importance of involving citizens in building local traditions and providing a space to channel the creative talent of residents.
