QKFest, an initiative that turns the municipality's streets and squares into open and free stages for all audiences, returns to Getafe. This event will offer a varied program of music, theater, circus, dance, painting, and crafts, aiming to surprise thousands of residents and visitors with open-air family shows.
Most activities will take place in the center of Getafe, but the festival will also reach neighborhoods such as Los Molinos, El Bercial, Perales del Río, and Buenavista. The Councilor for Culture, Luis Domínguez, emphasized the importance of culture as a right that transforms the city and promotes family gatherings and fun.
Featured activities include the Renaissance Market Art-FITEC (September 25th-27th), commemorating the 500th anniversary of Don Álvaro de Bazán, and the XXIII National Rapid Painting Contest on Saturday the 26th at the Teatro de la Calle Madrid. There will also be a local market GETART on the 26th and 27th on calle Padre Faustino.
Flamenco will have a special space at the Hospitalillo de San José with QKFest Flamenco, featuring talks, workshops, recitals, and concerts by artists such as José del Curro (Friday 25th), Kiki Morente (Saturday 26th), and Roque Torres (Sunday 27th). Additionally, the photographic exhibition ‘El Madrid de los tablaos’ will be presented at the Fábrica de Harinas.
The music and performing arts program on the street will include parades, circus shows, dance with the ‘Festival Gatadans’, popular festivals, and itinerant visual installations like ‘Babel’ by Xarxa Teatre.
The festival will also extend to the neighborhoods with simultaneous family shows on Saturday the 26th in Los Molinos, El Bercial, Perales del Río, and Buenavista.
Furthermore, QKFest will include professional meetings such as a Programmers' Fair and the Street Arts Congress, in collaboration with PATEA and FITEC.
