Workers at the Arcoíris Kindergarten, located in the Buenavista neighborhood of Getafe, have publicly denounced the failure to pay their full salaries for May. This situation has caused deep concern among the staff, who have decided to send a joint letter to the Getafe City Council and the center's management company, ‘Liga Española de la Educación y la Cultura Popular’, demanding clear and detailed information regarding their payments.
According to the staff's account, on May 26th, they received an electronic communication stating the impossibility of paying salaries at the end of the month. The company cited payroll closing issues and the need to apply potential deductions related to an indefinite sector strike. It was indicated that payroll documentation would be finalized during the first week of June, before the 5th, in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
However, the complainants state that by the agreed-upon date, the May salary had not been fully paid. Only a partial, flat payment of 400 euros per worker was made, with no official explanation provided to date regarding the reasons for this non-payment, the outstanding amounts, or the planned timelines for regularization.
The staff is requesting the exact reason for the non-payment and the expected date for receiving the remainder of their wages. They also ask the company to confirm whether this is an isolated incident or if there is a risk of it affecting future salary obligations. Furthermore, they seek guarantees regarding the payment of salaries for June and July 2026, and confirmation that social security contributions and other labor obligations are being met normally.
The staff has expressed understanding for potential administrative or economic issues in service management but emphasizes that the delay or partial non-payment of salaries is a matter of utmost importance, directly affecting their personal and family financial obligations, thus requiring transparent and documented information.
For their part, municipal sources have confirmed that the Education Department has initiated proceedings to request the company's solvency compliance, as stipulated in the contract. They have offered to hold meetings with the affected staff to provide information and clarified that there are no payment issues from the City Council's side. The invoice for April was submitted on May 7th, and the one for May on June 2nd, therefore, these do not justify the non-payment of salaries.
The same sources recalled that the company participated in a public tender process for the management of the Arcoiris Kindergarten, requiring an economic solvency of 821,000 euros, and submitted the necessary documentation. Each monthly payroll represents less than 50,000 euros. This solvency, according to public administration regulations and the workers' statute, is intended to guarantee salary payments.
