The city of Getafe continues to expand its animal welfare zones with the opening of a new dog park. This facility, located in the green area at the intersection of Bequerel Street and Pilar Bardem Street, in El Bercial, is the second to be established this year 2026, following the one opened in Los Molinos last January. With this addition, Getafe now has a total of 14 such spaces distributed across its neighborhoods.
The Councilor for Maintenance, Roberto Fernández, highlighted the importance of these areas, stating they "promote orderly coexistence, improve animal health, and help make neighborhoods more pleasant." He added that the council will continue to support "areas where dogs can exercise and socialize safely, while also caring for the environment, cleanliness, and the rest of the neighbors' peace."
The new infrastructure involved a municipal investment of over 50,000 euros. The prepared land covers more than 2,000 square meters and has been enclosed with a 250-meter perimeter fence to ensure safety.
The main attraction of this area is the installation of a complete 'Agility' circuit, equipped with various elements for training and developing animals' coordination and balance. For the convenience of users and the maintenance of the space, new urban furniture has been added, including benches, waste bins, and an information sign with usage rules.
