Getafe Fire: Man Severely Burned After House Blaze

A 58-year-old man was taken to the hospital with 20% of his body burned following an incident on Tejera Negra street.

A 58-year-old man has suffered severe injuries, with burns covering 20% of his body, after a fire broke out early this morning in a Getafe residence, as reported by 112 of the Community of Madrid.

The incident occurred around 2:45 AM in a house located at number 42 on Tejera Negra street. Nine units from the Community of Madrid Fire Department responded, finding the fire highly developed and already breaking through the roof of the property.
Firefighters managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to adjacent homes and other floors of the house, although the attic was completely affected.

"The 58-year-old man presented burns on 20% of his body and was transferred in moderate condition to Getafe Hospital."

Paramedics from SUMMA also attended to a 54-year-old woman, who was evacuated to the same hospital with minor burns on one hand. Local and National Police also intervened in the incident. The causes of the fire are currently unknown.
