Getafe Adjusts Processional Routes Due to Madrid Street Works

The celebrations in honor of Our Lady of the Angels in Getafe will modify their traditional routes due to ongoing construction in the central Madrid Street.

The Getafe City Council and the Royal and Illustrious Congregation of Our Lady of the Angels have agreed on new itineraries for the Patron Saint Festivities processions, scheduled for May, due to construction work on Madrid Street.

These changes, agreed upon by both entities, aim to preserve the solemnity of the religious acts. It is hoped that the traditional routes can be resumed for the 2027 Patron Saint Festivities, once the works are completed.
Among the modifications, the descent of the Sacred Image of Our Lady of the Angels, scheduled for May 14, will pass through Coronel Polanco Square, Juan de la Cierva Avenue, General Palacio Avenue, Manzana Street, Magdalena Street, and Magdalena Square.
The flower offering on May 16 will start on Toledo Street (at the height of San Isidro Park), continuing along Jardines Street, Magdalena Street, and concluding in Magdalena Square.
The Paseíllo de mayordomía, taking place on May 24 and 25, will follow a route through Magdalena Square, Magdalena Street, Ricardo de la Vega Street, Escuelas Pías Square, Obispo Felipe Scío Square, Lártiga Street, Las Cuestas Square, Cuestas Bajas Street, Polvoranca Street, Toledo Street, Oriente Street, and ending in Magdalena Square.
The Pentecost Sunday and Monday processions, also on May 24 and 25, will follow an itinerary that includes Magdalena Square, Magdalena Street, Manzana Street, General Palacio Avenue, General Palacio Square, Ramón y Cajal Street, Felipe Estévez Street, Escuelas Pías Square, Obispo Felipe Scío Square, Lártiga Street, Las Cuestas Square, Cuestas Bajas Street, Polvoranca Street, Toledo Street, Oriente Street, and Magdalena Square.
The torch procession on May 29 will depart from Magdalena Square and pass through Pasión Street, Calvario Alley, Calvario Street, Olivo Street, Arboleda Street, Escaño Street, General Palacio Avenue, Manzana Street, Magdalena Street, and Magdalena Square.
The Rosary of the Dawn, scheduled for May 30, will travel from Magdalena Square along Pinto Street, Sierra Street, Toledo Street, Castilla Street, Ferrocarril Street, Polvoranca Street, Constitución Square, Jardines Street, Magdalena Street, and Magdalena Square.
Finally, the ascent of the sacred image of Our Lady of the Angels, on May 31, will proceed through Magdalena Square, Magdalena Street, Arboleda Street, and Coronel Polanco Square.
