The Fuenlabrada City Council has expanded the municipal program ‘Verano en Compañía’ (Summer in Company), offering 740 free places for seniors during July and August.

The municipality of Fuenlabrada has increased the available spots this year for the ‘Verano en Compañía’ program, an initiative aimed at seniors that seeks to promote an active and social summer. The current edition features 740 free places, an increase of 140 spots compared to the previous year.
This fifth edition of the program will take place during the months of July and August at the municipal senior centers Ramón Rubial, Ferrer i Guardia, and Loranca. With nearly thirty scheduled activities, the goal is for seniors to maintain social contact, reduce the risk of isolation, and enjoy their free time.
The program includes a variety of workshops such as crochet and crafts, memory sessions, summer cinema, dancing, and body expression activities. One of the most anticipated activities is visits to the municipal swimming pool, where sociocultural animators will organize water games and group dynamics to combat high temperatures.
Additionally, the digital support point will remain open to help seniors resolve doubts about using mobile devices, applications, and online procedures. The program also aims to serve as a climate refuge during the hottest hours.

"The idea is that our seniors do not spend the summer alone, but continue to socialize, participate in activities, and make active use of this time."
