The Qualis CB Villa de Valdemoro demonstrated its strength in the opening game of the Liga VIPS (First National) quarter-final series, defeating Ricopia Funbal Alcalá CBJA with a commanding score of 79-65. This win highlights the depth of their roster, considered one of the most complete in the category.
The team's diverse resources, led by the coaching staff, were evident as eleven out of twelve local players scored. A standout player contributed 16 points and a performance rating of 22, keeping the team's promotion chances to Tercera FEB fully alive.
From the outset, the home team established a significant lead, ending the first quarter 18-10. This difference expanded considerably by halftime, reaching 41-24. Although the opposing team improved in the second half, the gap was too wide, allowing them only to slightly reduce the deficit.
The second game of the series will take place this Saturday at 6:30 PM at the Juan de Austria pavilion in Alcalá de Henares. A victory for the Valdemoro team would secure their qualification for the Final Phase, scheduled for May 23rd and 24th. Should the Alcalá team win, a decisive third match would be played on Sunday, May 17th, at 7:00 PM at the Jesús España pavilion.
In addition to Qualis Villa de Valdemoro, other teams that won their respective first quarter-final matches include Estudio, Valdude Alcobendas, and Uros de Rivas. Furthermore, in recent weeks, two youth teams from Villa de Valdemoro, the Junior Special men's team and the Infantil Special women's team, have achieved promotion to Plata in their categories, marking significant success for the club's academy.
