Getafe's Popular Party has expressed discontent over the unannounced opening date for municipal swimming pools, despite the high temperatures.

The Popular Party has criticized the delay in the opening of outdoor municipal swimming pools in Getafe. According to party spokesperson Antonio José Mesa, by early June, the operational date had still not been announced, unlike the previous year when they were already open. Mesa highlighted that while last year the opening was announced on May 31st, this year there is no news, leaving residents without access to facilities like those at the Alhóndiga – Sector III sports center or the one in Perales del Río as summer temperatures rise.
The PP believes this lack of information is compounded by maintenance issues they claim to have been reporting for months across various sports facilities in the municipality. Mesa attributes this situation to "poor planning" and questions how much longer the outdoor pools will remain closed.
Numerous residents have conveyed their complaints to the PP, both directly and via social media, demanding information on when they can use these leisure and recreational spaces. Concern grows with the arrival of summer heat.
The popular spokesperson also sharply criticized the management of the Local Executive, describing the government of Sara Hernández as an "absolute disaster" and incapable of providing quality public services, as evidenced by the deterioration of sports facilities and the lack of planning concerning the pools.
In light of this situation, the municipal group of the Popular Party has sent a written request to the Local Government seeking explanations for the continued closure of the pools and demanding that citizens be informed of the planned opening date.
