The People's Party of Alcorcón has filed a request for an extraordinary plenary session to discuss the alleged "collapse" of the C5 commuter rail line that runs through the municipality. The party claims the situation has worsened in recent years and criticizes that only 3.2% of the announced 1.350 billion euro investment plan has been executed.
The Municipal Popular Group denounces the deterioration of the track protection walls and points to maintenance and accessibility deficiencies at the San José de Valderas, Alcorcón Central, and Las Retamas stations. Furthermore, they note that the new Stadler trains delivered to Renfe cannot operate on the entire line because several stations are not yet adapted.
The PP also warns of accumulated delays in infrastructure-related works, citing an eight-year delay in the ERTMS signaling system, five years for adapting stations to 200-meter trains, and three years for tunnel interventions.
Among the proposals to be defended in the plenary are a request for an urgent meeting with the Ministry, the fulfillment of planned investments, and the preparation of a report on the condition of stations and track walls. They also propose studying a new stop at Fuente Cisneros and creating a park-and-ride facility next to the Alcorcón Central station.
