Following the positive figures from June, which marked the lowest unemployment rate for that month since 2007, employment trends in Alcorcón have slowed. The municipality ended July with 6,958 unemployed people. The year-on-year figure has barely changed, with only 8 more unemployed compared to July of last year.
Unemployment continues to affect women more significantly in the locality. By age group, unemployment is highest among the population over 45 years old, for both men and women. Employment contracts, however, continue to show a predominance of stable contracts.
At the regional level of the Community of Madrid, the number of registered unemployed increased by 1.42% in July compared to June, adding 3,822 more unemployed individuals to reach a total of 273,631 people. Nevertheless, compared to July 2025, the region has seen 2,245 fewer unemployed, a year-on-year decrease of 0.81%. The current figure is the lowest for this month since 2008.
The region has also seen growth in the number of self-employed workers, reaching 445,111. This represents an increase of 10,304 self-employed professionals in the last year, a growth of +2.4%, exceeding the national average of +1.7%.
