The recent 3-0 defeat against Cádiz has prompted changes at CD Leganés. Facing the urgent need to secure their place in the Second Division, the board has opted to replace Igor Oca, who took charge of the first team on December 4th. The club thanked the Basque coach for his work and dedication.

Carlos Martínez, who previously served as a player and coach for the club, returns to the 'pepinero' dugout. His mission will be to guide the team in the final matchday of the season, facing Mirandés, another team directly involved in the relegation zone.

Martínez, 45, arrives from Saudi Arabia. Previously, he coached Leganés' first team for the last eight matchdays of the 2022/23 season, achieving survival. He also had a two-and-a-half-year stint with Leganés 'B' and was part of the first-team coaching staff alongside Javier Aguirre.

As a player, Carlos Martínez is fondly remembered by Leganés fans, having played 155 official matches over two spells and captaining the team during their promotion to the Second Division in 2014.
