The former spokesperson for a political party in Parla has gone public with his situation, claiming his expulsion from the party was the result of a year of constant «pressures». According to his testimony, these pressures arose from his refusal to agree to the hiring of friends of third parties as advisors or trusted staff within the municipal group.
Last February, a party assembly agreed on a rotating spokesperson role, which meant the councilor was no longer recognized as the group's spokesperson. Sources close to the former spokesperson have indicated that, from that moment, the pressures on the councilor intensified.
“"From the party leadership, he was urged to «step back» and not to run as co-spokesperson, arguing that his figure generated «more conflict than unity»."
The former spokesperson confirmed in a press conference last Friday that he had been «enduring pressures» for a year for not wanting to «parachute in» friends of the party leadership. This situation, according to his account, was the origin of an internal dispute that culminated in his expulsion.
The councilor asserted that a complaint of alleged hostility against a colleague actually originated from his refusal to hire a «friend» of the leadership as a trusted position. This conflict, he reported, has led him to a «chronic state of anxiety, tachycardia, and accredited mental health problems».
The background to this situation appears to be a power struggle and quotas for decision-making within the group. The former spokesperson has stated that his goal was not power, but to act «with criteria» and a clear roadmap, which he considers consistent with his work.
“"If you try to lead, you're going into a war where, whatever happens, there will be complaints, there will be depressions, and there will be all the drama."
The former spokesperson has appealed to the party's Guarantees Committee, hoping for a swift resolution. He noted that the withdrawal of his government powers is a transitional situation until everything is clarified.
