After weeks of intense negotiations, Getafe and José Bordalás have sealed an agreement to extend their contractual relationship until June 2028. The team's qualification for the next edition of the Conference League and an improvement in the financial conditions proposed by the entity have been key factors for the Valencian coach to accept the offer.
The club's board emphasizes the importance of Bordalás in the recent history of the entity. Since his arrival in September 2016, the Alicante-born coach has been the main architect of Getafe's greatest sporting successes.
In his first spell, he achieved promotion to La Liga in the 16-17 season, completing a remarkable comeback. Subsequently, he consolidated the team in the top flight, achieving a historic fifth place in 18-19 which earned them qualification for European competition. Furthermore, he led the team in the UEFA Europa League, reaching the round of 16.
Following his return to the Coliseum in 2023, Bordalás has guided the team towards a new phase of growth and stability. He secured permanence in the top division on the final matchday of the 22-23 season with a crucial victory. His work, character, and identification with Getafe have strengthened the bond with the club and the fans, culminating in qualification for the Conference League.
Recently, the coach was named Adoptive Son of Getafe in recognition of his identification with the club and the city's values, making this renewal further strengthen their ties.
