Once again, the Independent Citizen Group for Aranjuez (acipa) has expressed its concern over the lack of regional funding for the Motín Festivals, an event with International Tourist Interest status. Council spokesperson Jesús Mario Blasco congratulated all the groups, associations, businesses, and residents who make the celebration of the festivals possible, highlighting the work done in events such as the pirate descent, sports and cultural activities, and the representation of the Motín. However, Blasco insists on the need for a suitable fairground for a municipality of almost 70,000 inhabitants.
acipa calls on the municipal government for a safe and accessible fairground, one that does not require constant police presence or cause traffic problems. Blasco points out that the current location obstructs the main entrance and exit of the town and criticizes the local administration's lack of solutions, comparing the situation to the Community of Madrid's ability to organize large-scale events like a Formula 1 circuit. The Raso de la Estrella is proposed as a possible location, despite access difficulties for users.
The independent councilor positively assesses the attendance at musical performances and the high standard of the Motín representation. Nevertheless, he reiterates the demand for support from the regional administration, given the prestige that the International Tourist Interest title brings to the Community of Madrid. It is suggested that the "goyesco" market in the Plaza de la Mariblanca be relocated to preserve this monumental space and revitalize other areas of the city.
Despite minor incidents and acts of vandalism, the festivals are considered safe thanks to the efforts of the security forces. acipa insists on preventing the sale of alcohol to minors. In summary, the 2026 Motín Festivals receive a good rating, but the issues of the fairground and the scarce regional funding, which primarily falls on municipal budgets, persist. Greater economic involvement from the Community of Madrid is advocated to enhance the international value of these festivals.
