Following an incident detected last week, Renfe has returned the first three Series 453 trains to service on the Cercanías Madrid network. These trains, which will serve the C-5 line including stations like Las Retamas, Alcorcón Central, and San José de Valderas, were temporarily withdrawn for inspection of a communication and braking system issue.
The problem, related to communication between carriages and potentially affecting the braking system, has been resolved through software updates and adjustments to various systems. Renfe collaborated with the manufacturer, Stadler, to implement the necessary fixes for both delivered units and those awaiting deployment.
Currently, one train is operating normally with passengers, while the other two are in the process of reintroduction and are expected to join regular service soon. The return of these modern vehicles is positive news for the renewal of the Cercanías Madrid network, which plans the progressive incorporation of 79 new trains.
This renewal is part of a larger acquisition of nearly 500 trains by the Ministry of Transport in 2023 for various rail networks. For Alcorcón travelers, the arrival of these newer trains will enhance connectivity with Madrid and other towns in the southern region.
