The political group has filed a motion for the municipal plenary session, highlighting the risk that Alcorcón's Social Services may be unable to cope with the growing workload. According to the Popular Group, measures adopted by the central government, particularly Royal Decree 316/2026, of April 14, concerning the regularization of foreign individuals, are creating new obligations for city councils without adequate funding or specific planning.
Specifically in Alcorcón, it is noted that the city council will have to undertake the issuance of vulnerability reports and provide support in social inclusion processes. These tasks, according to the popular party, will add significant pressure to already strained municipal services.
“"The risk of collapse is evident. Social Services are already at their limit."
The Popular Group warns that this situation arises in a context where local Social Services are already experiencing an increase in emergency aid files, higher demand for assistance to vulnerable families, and greater needs for mediation and integration. This overload is reportedly causing delays in service and increased stress among professionals.
To address this issue, the Popular Group proposes several measures. These include the urgent preparation of a technical report assessing the impact of population growth and new regulations on the demand for Social Services. They also call for immediate staff reinforcement, an increase in budgetary allocation, and the development of a plan to ensure that regularization processes have proper planning, defined criteria, and sufficient resources.
