The town of Alcorcón has achieved a historic milestone in employment during the past month of March, registering the lowest number of unemployed people since records began, with a total of 7,041 jobless individuals.

This remarkable decrease represents a reduction of 347 unemployed residents over the last year, establishing it as the best employment data in the last two decades for the municipality. The improvement significantly exceeds the average for the Community of Madrid.

"These figures are a historic milestone for the city, of which we must feel deeply proud as residents of Alcorcón. Municipal employment policies work, and now the objective of all administrations must be to protect these jobs from the consequences of the war and consolidate the Alcorcón we have always defended as a place to live."

David López · Second Deputy Mayor and Head of Economic Development
The overall decrease of 4.71% in Alcorcón contrasts favorably with the 3.81% regional average. The year-on-year analysis reveals that women in the municipality lead the reduction in unemployment, with 204 fewer unemployed. Likewise, the age group between 34 and 44 years has seen a decrease of 235 people in unemployment.

"From IMEPE of Alcorcón, we will continue to build a public service that links residents looking for employment, those who decide to promote local businesses, and companies that see Alcorcón as a good place to settle. This is the best way to ensure that the jobs created in Alcorcón are filled by residents of Alcorcón."

Carlos Carretero · Councillor for Employment and Training and President of IMEPE
