The municipality of Alcorcón has launched its second Strategic Subsidy Plan, an initiative designed to regulate and optimize municipal aid. This plan, with a total budget of €3.2 million, primarily aims to strengthen the social fabric and promote public interest actions, thereby improving citizen services.
According to council sources, the plan has established a clear legal and administrative framework for subsidy calls. Mayor Candelaria Testa highlighted that citizen support is delivered through 14 aid lines, which this year have increased their funding to €3.2 million, a 24% rise compared to the previous year.
“"Alcorcón demonstrates support for its citizens with data: we promote 14 aid lines that this year have reached 3.2 million euros, 24% more than the previous year."
The plan is divided into two main areas: one focused on social support for families and another directed towards entities and the city's associative fabric. Examples cited by the mayor include the 'Home Check' for utility payments like gas and electricity, as well as for homeowners' associations and rent. It also encompasses Habitability Aid, support for school canteens, and social emergency funds.
Furthermore, the plan includes aid for ecological transition, such as the installation of solar panels and aerothermal systems, and promotes sustainable mobility by supporting the acquisition of electric cars, bicycles, and scooters. Social entities also receive backing in areas like sports and health for their respective projects.
The mayor confirmed that the plan has reached a total of 6,345 residents, entities, clubs, and associations, reaffirming the municipal government's commitment to comprehensive citizen support, particularly for the most vulnerable groups, and the development of social, sports, and cultural projects.
For her part, Raquel Peral, Councilor for Finance and Contracting, emphasized that the plan aims to foster civil society participation, promote awareness strategies, enhance efficiency in managing and controlling public spending on subsidies, and ensure transparency and equal access to grants. The goal is to optimize municipal subsidy management and evaluate public policies.
Peral added that the lines of action are based on projects for social inclusion, promoting personal autonomy, social aid and benefits, social emergencies, health-related associations, cooperation, and sports, thereby defining a comprehensive framework for municipal support.
