Alcorcón prepares for the San José de Valderas Festivities this Saturday, May 30th, with a program featuring parades, tributes, and a popular paella.

The San José de Valderas celebrations will kick off on Saturday, May 30th, around the Municipal Music School of Alcorcón. The day, designed for all audiences, will offer continuous activities from 10:00 AM.
One of the highlights will be the grand parade of giants and 'cabezudos' (big-heads), starting at 10:30 AM, featuring the Marquises of Valderas and new characters. The morning will also include a floral offering to Father Zurita, children's activities from 11:30 AM, and a foam party at 12:30 PM.
At 1:30 PM, a special ceremony will be held to honor and recognize distinguished residents of San José de Valderas, presented by Víctor, host of the local news podcast. The festive morning will conclude with a free popular paella for approximately 1,000 attendees at 2:30 PM.
The afternoon will continue at 5:00 PM with the 'chupinazo' (opening firecracker), followed by children's bull-running events. From 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, attendees will enjoy a musical afternoon session hosted by DJ Vicente Colomo and DJ Alex Colomo.
In parallel to the festivities, the Alcorcón City Council approved yesterday the new Low Emission Zone (ZBE) ordinance. This measure will affect most of the urban area, limiting access to vehicles without an environmental sticker that do not belong to residents. Non-residents will have exceptions for work, medical, or administrative reasons, and during the first six months, information will be prioritized over sanctions.
The discussion regarding libraries and study spaces continues to generate debate. Following the request for extended hours and more study rooms by Roberto Marín Vergara and the New Generations of the Popular Party, the Councilor for Culture, Miriam Benítez, has responded on social media.
