The Comunidad de Madrid has implemented a new fee system for the regional Firefighters Corps service, which will affect municipalities with a population exceeding 20,000 inhabitants. This change is expected to generate an additional 37.8 million euros in revenue during 2026 and 2027.
The amount charged per inhabitant has risen from 30.93 euros to 35 euros, representing a slight increase of over 13%. With this adjustment, projected revenues for the Comunidad de Madrid from this service are set at 76.3 million euros in 2026 and 89.1 million in 2027, compared to the 63.8 million under the previous model.
From the municipality of Aranjuez, it is noted that the City Council already pays 1,962,198 euros for this service, and the new fee represents a grievance exceeding 250,000 euros. Furthermore, it is highlighted that the land parcel for the Aranjuez Fire Station is municipal property and was altruistically ceded.
The proposal regarding the firefighter fee was supported by all political groups present, with the exception of the Partido Popular. Concurrently, it was proposed to urge the Government of the Comunidad de Madrid to negotiate with the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility for adhesion to the single state transport pass. This system aims to improve service and pricing for citizens through mutual recognition of transport titles.
This latter proposal was approved with the support of the majority of groups, an abstention from Vox, and a vote against from the Partido Popular. Más Madrid Aranjuez has stated its intention to monitor the fulfillment of the plenary mandates.
