It is essential to have an emergency kit including prescription medication, a battery-powered radio, a flashlight, a first-aid kit, and important documents, as well as storing non-perishable water and food for three days. It is also advised to keep valuables, documents, and toxic products out of water's reach and to know evacuation routes and locations.
During the emergency, it is crucial to follow evacuation measures and instructions from authorities, staying informed through media and official accounts. It is warned not to approach riverbeds, streams, ravines, or the base of hills, nor to remain on bridges, as they may collapse. Vehicles should not be driven through affected roads, nor should flooded areas be crossed. It is recommended to disconnect electricity, gas, and water from the home if necessary, close and secure doors and windows, and not to spread rumors. The call to 112 should be reserved solely for emergencies.
After the emergency, the home should be inspected for damage, and electricity, water, and telephone services verified. It is important to avoid drinking water without necessary hygiene guarantees and to follow sanitary rules. Cleaning should start from higher areas, and useless belongings should be placed on sidewalks without obstructing traffic. Cooperation with rescue and cleaning teams is requested by clearing the public road adjacent to the home.
