The City Council of Villalbilla decreed this Wednesday the temporary closure of the Municipal Sports Complex swimming pool after it suffered severe vandalism during the early morning hours. The damage affects both the facilities and elements located around the pool.
The decision, motivated by safety reasons, will allow municipal services to assess the extent of the damage and carry out the necessary repairs before allowing user access again. Among the detected damages are forced entry into the restrooms, with interior elements deteriorated. In the bathing area, umbrellas and their counterweights were overturned, some thrown into the pool. Several grates around the pool have also been torn out.
Furniture intended for people with reduced mobility has also been affected, with the adapted chair thrown into the water. This has required a thorough review of the pool's condition and water, which may need specific treatment. The reopening of the facility will depend on technical verifications and compliance with safety and health requirements.
The City Council has condemned the acts and called for civic behavior from residents. They are confident in their ability to resolve the damage and reopen the pool as soon as possible.
