Cervantes Square in Alcalá de Henares transformed into a museum on wheels this Sunday with the arrival of Vespas from all over Spain for the grand classic motorcycle rally. The event, now in its eleventh edition, brought together fans from numerous parts of the country, solidifying its status as one of the most important gatherings on the national scooter calendar.
From early morning, the square was filled with classic and restored models of the iconic Italian brand, offering residents and visitors the chance to admire an impressive exhibition of historical motorcycling. The organization limited registration to 200 vehicles to ensure the smooth running of the event, reaffirming Vespalcalá's position as one of the most prominent rallies both in the Community of Madrid and nationally.
The participation of clubs and enthusiasts from across Spain underscores the event's national scope. Attendees from Cuenca, Guadalajara, Campo de Criptana, Murcia, Llíria, Valencia, Castellón, and various Madrid municipalities, including Santorcaz, Colmenar Viejo, Villaconejos, and the capital itself, were present. Clubs such as Vespa Club Cuenca and Vespa Torcatos, regulars at this rally, stood out for their representation.
Activities commenced on Friday with signature checks and participant reception at Las Retintas bar, the Vespa Club's headquarters in Plaza de los Irlandeses. On Saturday, after breakfast and accreditation collection, the highly anticipated joint departure of the 200 Vespas took place from Alcalá's historic center. The approximately 80-kilometer route traversed the Alcarria de Alcalá region, passing through towns such as Villalbilla, Valverde, Nuevo Baztán, Olmeda de las Fuentes, Ambite, and Villar del Olmo, where a lunch stop was made. The tour continued through Pozuelo del Rey, Torres de la Alameda, and Los Hueros before returning to Alcalá.
After the scooters were parked again in Cervantes Square for display throughout much of the afternoon, the day concluded with an awards ceremony in Plaza de los Irlandeses. The celebration continued with a fellowship lunch at La Terraza del Mercado and a concert at Hanoi House.
