Train circulation on Madrid's C-8a commuter line was suspended this Wednesday afternoon between El Escorial and Zarzalejo following the derailment of a freight train.

The incident occurred around 5:30 PM when several axles of the train left the tracks in this section. According to Adif sources, the derailment caused part of the train to encroach on the adjacent track's clearance, forcing the interruption of traffic in both directions while removal operations are underway.
Adif technicians and operators have been dispatched to the site to work on restoring the infrastructure and removing the affected train. The service disruption impacts both medium-distance and commuter trains on the C-8a line in the Madrid network, which are currently stopped at stations.
This situation also affects trains running between Madrid and Ávila. Currently, Adif has not provided an estimated time for service resumption nor reported any personal injuries.
An alternative road transport plan has been established for affected medium-distance passengers between Zarzalejo and El Escorial.
