The initiative, part of the Madrid Activo program, seeks to strengthen the municipality's commitment to social cohesion and public health promotion through physical exercise in the natural environment of the Sierra del Rincón Biosphere Reserve. Registration is required and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, with applications accepted in person or via email at horcajuelosociocultural@gmail.com.
Two main proposals stand out: Maintenance Gymnastics, aimed at individuals over 50, held every Wednesday at 12:00 PM at the CAR. This activity aims to improve participants' mobility, cardiorespiratory fitness, and muscle strength, while also serving as a tool for fall prevention, bone health care, and combating sedentary lifestyles, offering a space for social interaction and emotional well-being.
Additionally, the Mountain School is designed for the municipality's youth, aged 4 to 17. It will take place once a month, on Sundays from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, featuring guided hikes and outdoor activities. The goal is to instill active habits from an early age, combining environmental education with the development of physical and teamwork skills in a privileged setting.
Both activities are part of a comprehensive municipal project complemented by occasional workshops on Nordic walking, traditional games, and awareness-raising sessions for adopting healthy lifestyles. All activities are completely free for residents thanks to institutional collaboration with the Community of Madrid.
