The Sierra Norte Regional Humanities Center in La Cabrera presents a diverse cultural offering for June, ranging from film screenings to artistic workshops and theatrical performances. The program aims to revitalize the region's cultural life and provide experiences for all audiences.
A highlight is the screening of the American film FATHER MOTHER SISTER BROTHER, directed by Jim Jarmusch, shown in its original version with subtitles. The film, which won the Golden Lion for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival, explores the reunion of adult siblings and their complex family relationships. The screening will be followed by a presentation and debate with film critic Juanma Ruiz.
In theater, Collons is featured, a performative laboratory on contemporary masculinities aimed at men aged 18 to 30, culminating in a play within the Community of Madrid Autumn Festival. Additionally, the amateur company La Cómica from Murcia presents the comedy Vamos a contar mentiras, by playwright Alfonso Paso, marking the centenary of his birth.
The center's library joins the celebration with the initiative Los 12 Hilos. Tejiendo lecturas (12 Threads. Weaving Readings), which includes a selection of books for the summer and a gathering for knitting and conversation. Furthermore, the exhibition Historia del Cómic en España (History of Comics in Spain) opens, tracing the evolution of Spanish comics up to the 1970s, featuring the presentation of the book La escuela del cómic by Félix Pastor.
As a culmination of the academic year, works from the children's Plastic Arts, Painting, and Improvisational Theater workshops will be exhibited. The Plastic Arts workshops, led by artist Silvina Socolovsky, will showcase drawings, paintings, and sculptures. The Painting workshops, guided by Rafael Gordillo and Lola Noguero, will display various creations. The Improvisational Theater Group A will present its final showcase, a result of collective creativity and spontaneity.
Finally, the workshop Jardines con Nombre Propio (Gardens with Their Own Name), taught by landscape designer Mercedes Montalvo Morales, will invite participants to design their ideal garden, exploring personal expression through landscape design. All activities will take place at the Sierra Norte Regional Humanities Center, located at Avda. de La Cabrera, 96.
