The exhibition, with the vision of professional photographer Andrés López, aims to vindicate the stray cat as an individual with its own history, contrasting with the traditional rural view that only values animals "useful" for work. The images transform a social issue, animal abandonment, into a gallery of portraits that invites a new perspective.
The photographs, some of which were part of a solidarity calendar for the Las Mininas Association, subtly illustrate the transition from "pet" as a disposable object to "dependent living being." The exhibition serves as a tool for raising awareness to promote adoption, sterilization, and support for animal welfare legislation.
The exhibition accompanies the work that Las Mininas carries out in the municipality by applying the TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) method, an effort to consolidate local compliance with current animal welfare regulations.
Andrés López, a professional Nature and Travel photographer with over twenty years of experience, has had images in the National Geographic USA bank and collaborated with various specialized magazines. He has been an Olympus Ambassador and balances commercial photography with solidarity projects and training in companion animal photography. Among his awards are the "Be Hoope Save Animals" Prize (2016), the 20Minutos "20Blogs Solidario" (2017), and the National Artistic Prize "Amigos de los Animales" (2023).
The exhibition can be visited from September 11th to October 3rd in the exhibition space of the lobby at the La Cabrera Humanities Center (Av. de la Cabrera, 96). Visiting hours are from 10:00 AM to 9:30 PM, Monday to Saturday, and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
