The exhibition, featuring the perspective of photographer Andrés López, presents images of stray cats rescued in the Madrid countryside. Contrasting with the traditional view of animals "useful" for work, the photographs vindicate the stray cat as an individual with its own story, transforming the social problem of abandonment into a portrait gallery.
Some of the exhibited photographs were part of a solidarity calendar benefiting the Las Mininas Association. The exhibition illustrates the transition from "pet" as a disposable object to "dependent living being" and aims to raise awareness about adoption, sterilization, and support for animal welfare legislation.
The exhibition supports the work of Las Mininas, which applies the CER (Capture, Sterilization, and Return) method in the municipality to comply with current animal welfare regulations.
Andrés López, a professional Nature and Travel photographer with over twenty years of experience, exhibits his work. His images have been featured in the National Geographic USA bank, and he has collaborated with various specialized magazines. He has been an Olympus Ambassador and combines commercial photography with solidarity projects and companion animal photography training. Among his accolades are the "Be Hoope Save Animals" Award (2016), the 20Minutos "20Blogs Solidario" (2017), and the National Artistic Award "Amigos de los Animales" (2023).
