The Civil Guard has arrested a woman suspected of committing several thefts in the towns of El Vellón and Guadalix de la Sierra using the so-called 'affectionate hug' technique.

The modus operandi involved approaching elderly individuals under the pretext of asking for help or information. Once the victim's attention was secured, the suspect would initiate affectionate physical contact, hugging or holding the person's hands to steal gold jewelry without the victim immediately noticing.
The items stolen during these incidents include a chain with several pendants, a wedding band, and a ring, all made of gold. After committing the theft, the woman would flee the scene in a vehicle waiting nearby.
According to sources from the Civil Guard, the arrested individual has an extensive criminal record, with over twenty prior offenses for theft and robbery with violence.
