The 20th School Olympics in Collado Villalba will bring together over 4,800 students from 18 educational centers, taking place from April 12 to 22 at the Antonio Ledesma Sports City and other municipal facilities.

The event, organized by the City Council through the Department of Sports, marks two decades of promoting school sports in the town. The opening ceremony is scheduled for the morning of Sunday, April 12, and will include a family festival with various play areas.
A highlight will be the Olympic torch relay, carried by representatives from participating centers, which will start from the Plaza de la Estación and conclude at the Sports City. The parade of teams is expected to begin around 11:00 AM, followed by the arrival of the Olympic flag and torch, the lighting of the cauldron, and the reading of the Olympic oath by athletes and referees.
During the inauguration, the award for the winner of the Drawing Contest and author of the 2026 advertising poster will also be presented. This year's honor goes to Lucas Londoño, a student from Mariano Benlliure school. Competitions will cover a wide range of disciplines, from 7-a-side football and basketball to chess and athletics, structured into age categories from 9 to 18 years old.
Unlike previous editions, this year's sports events will take place on April 13, 16, 17, 21, and 22, adapting to students' exam schedules. The Department of Sports has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusion, facilitating the participation of Special Education students from Peñalara school.

"This event is crucial, as it allows thousands of children from all educational centers in the town to break from routine and enjoy days of coexistence and sports practice alongside other students."
