All opposition groups in the Moralzarzal City Council have supported a motion for total rejection presented by the PSOE, preventing the 2027 Municipal Budgets project, which included a 5% IBI reduction and investments of 16.3 million euros, from being debated in the Plenary.

The Finance Commission of the Moralzarzal City Council held yesterday, October 19, the vote on the motion for total rejection presented by the PSOE. The Governing Team regrets that this decision prevents the debate of the 2027 budget project, which included a reduction in the Property Tax (IBI) to the legal minimum, representing a 5% saving for the municipality's families.
The budget project, with a total allocation of 16,329,950 euros, also provided for increases in key areas such as sports, with a 12% increase to 2,054,536 euros, and culture, with a budget of 1,234,047 euros (an increase of over 4%). Furthermore, nearly one million euros were earmarked for infrastructure investments, including 550,000 euros for asphalting, 223,000 euros for parks and gardens, and 220,000 euros for improvements in educational buildings.
The Governing Team criticizes the lack of constructive proposals from the opposition, despite having provided the project well in advance and offered dialogue spaces. They point out that the mayor, José Mª Moreno, maintains his decision not to collect a salary in 2027, allocating his salary to other municipal needs.
Despite the blockage, the municipal government assures that Moralzarzal will continue to move forward with new investments and improvements in public services, streets, parks, gardens, and buildings. They recall projects launched this year such as the new street cleaning contract, improvements on the M-615, the athletics track, and a new municipal warehouse, and announce that work is already underway on new projects for the coming months.
Fernando Cobo, spokesperson for the Governing Team and Councilor of Finance, stated: 'Faced with blockage and lack of proposals, our response will continue to be work, management, and results. Moralzarzal is not stopping. We have projects, we have enthusiasm, and the firm commitment to continue making our municipality a better place to live every day.'
