The Plaza de la Constitución and surrounding streets of Valdemorillo will become the epicenter of the September Festivals. The City Council has prepared a festive agenda with the aim of "awakening everyone's participation to jointly enjoy the fun and great atmosphere," according to the mayor.
The program is based on "the street, participation, and the desire to have a great time," aiming to "grow increasingly in content and interest" so that residents and visitors are the main protagonists. The agenda includes proposals for art, music, and "moments for non-stop laughter and fun."
Among the highlights are the Crazy Car Race, now in its fourth edition, the Holi Run for an explosion of color, the Foam Party, the new AquaBattle Valdemorillo, as well as inflatables at the pool of the Dehesa Sports Center and a Dance Masterclass in Eras Cerradas.
Bullfighting tradition will be present with a children's "recortes" (bull-trimming) contest, for which registrations can be made by sending an email to actvaldemorillo@gmail.com. Local peñas (clubs) will also have a prominent role with a parade accompanied by a charanga (brass band), a chocolate tasting offered by the churrería La Original, and activities such as bingo organized by Las Grecas and an appetizer on Sunday, September 6th.
The opening speech of the festivals will pay tribute to the volunteers of the Local Civil Protection Group, coinciding with their tenth anniversary. Following the official welcome, students from the Alba Martínez Dance School will perform, recent winners of the Global Open Dance Final. The opening day, Friday, September 4th, will feature the concert Recuerdos Locos and a set by DJ Miami. On Saturday the 5th, Em, Sabina and Dj Tito will perform.
On Sunday, September 6th, the XV Classic Car and Motorcycle Gathering will take place at the La Candelaria Bullring, exhibiting collector's items over 30 years old.
As a festive prelude, on Friday, September 4th, the event ‘Living Art in the Square’ will be held, as part of the Community of Madrid's Summer Scenes Festival, featuring five contemporary performance artists linked to the Juan Gallery. On Saturday afternoon, another cultural event, ‘Welcome & Sorry’, will take place.
On Tuesday, September 8th, a local holiday, a mass will be celebrated at the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. Final events include the inauguration of the exhibition Votilesco, a concert by the Orquesta de Pulso y Púa Villa de Chiva, and the Children Against Cancer Race on September 27th.
