The security operation, active from August 24th to 31st, will feature a historic deployment including aerial surveillance via drones and a helicopter, alongside cavalry units and a robust health service. The primary goal is to ensure the safety of the thousands of attendees at events like the famous bull runs.
The Local Security Board has designed a coordinated plan between the Local Police and the National Police. Local officers will use unmarked cars, TETRA communication systems, and metal detectors to control access to celebration areas. The police presence will be massive and strategic to manage the expected large crowds.
Security will extend to the sky with support from a State Forces helicopter and the municipal drone fleet, enabling early detection of dangerous crowds and real-time coordination. On the ground, Cavalry units and Police Intervention groups will patrol the busiest areas. Additionally, breathalyzer checks and road surveillance with mobile radars will be intensified.
The health aspect is another key pillar, with Civil Protection mobilizing over a hundred volunteers, supported by technicians and doctors from SUMMA 112. Two field hospitals will be set up, directly connected to the Infanta Sofía Hospital to cover any emergencies.
On the civic front, special emphasis will be placed on prevention, notably the ‘Vidrio 0,0’ campaign, which will restrict the use of glass containers in key areas. Furthermore, surveillance against drug dealing and the sale of alcohol to minors will be strengthened, aiming for a balance between festive tradition and safe coexistence.
