The streets of Valdemorillo are already buzzing with anticipation for the upcoming Pilgrimage of the Virgen de la Esperanza. Preparations are culminating for a day that honors the town's patron saint, bringing together hundreds of residents who, dressed in traditional regional attire, will accompany the image of the Lady of Hope on her return to the Hermitage of Valmayor.
The pilgrimage procession, guided by the rhythm of the dulzaina and drum played by the group Malangosto, will advance with the steps of the rondón. The tradition will be celebrated with special splendor, also featuring the participation of horse riders and decorated vehicles for the occasion, reflecting the pride and enthusiasm this festival evokes among the people of Valdemorillo.
The Sunday festivities will begin early with mass, moved this year to 9:00 AM. After the service, the image of the Virgin will depart from the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption to commence its journey. The procession will include members of brotherhoods, authorities, and residents, who will enjoy a special offering by the women as they dance the Respingona, a regional jota, as a gesture of affection and veneration.
As a prelude to the pilgrimage, Saturday afternoon will be dedicated to the traditional floral offering. Numerous residents of Valdemorillo will place bouquets and arrangements before the Virgen de la Esperanza, a gesture underscoring the deep respect and affection the community holds for its patron saint.
