The unions' concerns focus on June 5, 6, 7, 12, and 13, when high visitor numbers are expected. They argue that current staffing levels are inadequate to ensure proper security coverage for high-attendance events, such as concerts and large parties, as well as for patrolling the municipality's residential areas.
The organizations described the situation as unsustainable, noting that the extraordinary security plan relies heavily on the willingness of officers to work extra hours at the expense of their family life. They also criticized the City Council for a lack of commitment to improving working conditions, which they claim has led to a progressive decline in the quality of public service.
“"The safety of residents and visitors cannot depend solely on the effort and professionalism of an increasingly overburdened staff."
In light of these circumstances, the unions have demanded immediate action from the local government. They are calling for measures to ensure decent working conditions for municipal employees and to guarantee an appropriate security deployment to protect both locals and visitors during the June celebrations.
