The Community of Madrid has announced the International Performing Arts Festival ORCAM, which will transform San Lorenzo de El Escorial into an artistic hub from August 28 to September 20, featuring over 250 artists from 11 countries.

The inaugural edition of the International Performing Arts Festival ORCAM will bring together more than 250 artists from 11 countries and will premiere a new production of the opera Carmen in Spain, alongside a series of nocturnal concerts. This event, known as Escena Escorial, aims to decentralize cultural offerings during the summer months.
The festival's program features a blend of major musical productions, dance performances, opera, and contemporary scenic proposals. Activities will take place in three iconic venues in the town: the Teatro Auditorio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, the Real Coliseo Carlos III, and the Teatro de la Antigua Mina. These locations are situated within a World Heritage site, historically linked to royalty, particularly the reign of Philip II.

"The festival represents the realization of a great dream conceived almost seven years ago, responding to the philosophy of uniting elements to achieve excellence and expand access to culture to the maximum number of people possible."

the regional Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport
The artistic direction of the festival is led by a renowned international figure, who has emphasized the global reach of Escena Escorial. The event's presentation took place at the Teatro Auditorio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a building whose minimalist design is notable for a pinsapo tree, a protected species in the area, which was preserved during construction and has become a symbol of the auditorium.
The festival is conceived as part of the new Regional Dramatic, Choreographic, and Musical Center, with the Teatro Auditorio serving as its main venue. This initiative underscores the regional government's commitment to expanding and making culture accessible to all citizens.
