Security during the Patron Saint Festivities in Soto del Real will be notably reinforced this year. The City Council has implemented a special plan combining surveillance, emergency response, and health services, aiming for residents and visitors to enjoy the festive program without added worries. This plan, based on prior planning, prevention, and coordination among the various bodies and administrations, received positive evaluation at the Local Security Board.
During the festival days, an average of 20 Local Police officers and Civil Guard personnel will be on duty daily, in addition to specialized units, Civil Protection volunteers, and health services. Police presence will be concentrated in high-traffic areas, with special attention to the 'Carpa Joven' (Youth Tent), which will have private security and access controls.
In the health sector, resources are being enhanced with two Civil Protection fire engines and two cardiac-protected vehicles. As a novelty, a fully equipped medicalized ambulance has been contracted for the busiest nights, adding to the municipality's network of 14 defibrillators.
Technology also plays a key role in the operation, featuring a 24-hour video surveillance system and OCR cameras at access points to read license plates. Lighting will be improved in the Parque del Río and Parque de Los Morales, and alcohol and drug checks will be intensified with the Local Police Canine Unit.
Information and prevention actions targeting young people and families will be implemented, including identification bracelets for children and campaigns on risk reduction and responsible consumption. The Red Cross and the 'Drogas o tú' (Drugs or You) bus will also be present.
The operation includes specific attention to gender-based violence and sexual assault, with support from the Local Police's Specialized Gender Violence Unit and the 'Punto Violeta' (Purple Point).
