The event, taking place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, will focus on the round table discussion “Racism, Coexistence, and Multiculturalism”. The day will begin with an institutional opening highlighting the local commitment to peace, featuring contributions from the mayor Alicia Gallego, Councilor for Citizen Participation Patricia Ibáñez, Valentín Oliveros, and Marisa Tejada.
The institutional welcome will serve to commemorate the anniversary of Manzanares El Real's declaration as an International Zone of Peace Culture. Prominent figures in activism and human rights defense will participate, including Ana Barrero (Peace Culture Foundation), Mario Grande (Amnesty International), Marisa Tejada (Neighborhood Council), Joanen Cunyat, and Carlos Umaña (ICAN), as well as Mario J. Gallego, mayor of Albendiego, another municipality recognized with this distinction.
Following this, the round table will take place, focusing on dismantling racism and prejudice. It will include participants such as Luis Miguel Flórez (CEAR), Waleed Saleh (professor and researcher), Alberto (sociologist specializing in migration), José Ángel (psychologist specializing in Peace Education), and Almudena Izquierdo (Caravana Abriendo Fronteras). Journalist and resident Laura García will moderate the discussion.
The event will be held on Sunday, September 20th, in the Plenary Hall of the Manzanares El Real Town Hall. Entry is free until full capacity.
